🇽🇰 Krasniqi Accuses Vetëvendosje of Institutional Crisis, Says PDK Will Review LDK’s Proposal

The leader of the Democratic Party of Kosovo (PDK), Memli Krasniqi, has commented on the current political deadlock, accusing the Vetëvendosje Movement (LVV) of holding the country in an ongoing institutional crisis through what he described as an imposed and irresponsible approach.

Krasniqi emphasized that PDK’s positions have been consistent and clear, stating that the country must not be held hostage by narrow political interests.

“The institutional blockade is a direct result of Vetëvendosje’s irresponsible and forceful behavior, as they insist on keeping the country in crisis at any cost,” he stated.

In regard to the recent proposal by the Democratic League of Kosovo (LDK) to form a transitional and unifying government, Krasniqi confirmed he is aware of it and noted that the matter will be discussed within the party’s leadership.

“Tomorrow, during our regular presidency meeting, we will address all ongoing political developments and determine our next steps,” he added.

The proposal from LDK was announced Tuesday by party leader Lumir Abdixhiku, following repeated failures to establish new institutions nearly three months after the elections held on February 9.

Abdixhiku rejected an offer from Vetëvendosje to form a joint LVV-LDK governing coalition, reiterating his party’s stance that they do not support such an arrangement.

The process of constituting the new Assembly, which began on April 15, remains at a standstill, as Vetëvendosje has been unable to secure the required 61 votes to elect Albulena Haxhiu as Speaker.

Both PDK and AAK have labeled Haxhiu as a “divisive figure,” while LDK has refused to support any candidate proposed by Vetëvendosje.

Despite the lack of support, Vetëvendosje continues to back Haxhiu’s candidacy, claiming she is a qualified candidate and ruling out the possibility of nominating an alternative.
