⚽ Wirtz Rejects Two Giants, Wants Bayern Munich Move Only

Florian Wirtz is reportedly moving closer to a transfer to Bayern Munich, as the 22-year-old midfielder has informed Bayer Leverkusen manager Xabi Alonso that he has no interest in joining either Real Madrid or Manchester City—despite strong interest from both clubs.

According to sources close to the situation, Wirtz’s sole desire is to join the reigning Bundesliga champions. His father and agent, Hans Wirtz, who maintains a close relationship with Bayern honorary president Uli Hoeneß, is said to have reached a preliminary agreement with the club’s leadership.

Formal negotiations between Bayer Leverkusen and Bayern Munich are expected to begin soon, even though Wirtz remains under contract until 2027.

Earlier statements from Bayer Leverkusen CEO Fernando Carro had indicated a potential transfer valuation of at least €150 million, although he later walked back that figure. Despite this, Bayern has identified Wirtz as their top priority for the upcoming summer transfer window.

This development also holds strategic importance for Xabi Alonso, who has been widely mentioned as a leading candidate to take over at Real Madrid following Carlo Ancelotti. Some had speculated that Alonso might seek to bring Wirtz with him to Spain, but the player’s preference appears firmly set on staying in Germany with Bayern.
