OpenAI has reportedly reached an agreement to acquire Windsurf, an artificial intelligence-powered coding tool, in a deal valued at approximately $3 billion.
According to sources familiar with the matter, the deal is not yet finalized, and discussions are still ongoing.
OpenAI has declined to comment on the potential acquisition, while Windsurf has not immediately responded to inquiries.

Previously known as Codeium, Windsurf has recently been in talks with major investors—including General Catalyst and Kleiner Perkins—to raise new capital based on a $3 billion valuation.
Last August, the company was valued at $1.25 billion following a $150 million funding round led by General Catalyst. Other investors include Greenoaks and Kleiner Perkins.
