India Gjata (Zhaku) Speaks Out About the Media Coverage of Parashqevi Simaku’s Situation
India Gjata, also known as Zhaku, expressed her outrage over the continued media coverage of Parashqevi Simaku’s situation in the streets of New York. Speaking during a live interview on the show “Rudina” on Tv Klan, she emphasized that this situation should never have been made public. However, it is true that the singer’s footage was aired in a report by the American network ABC.
She further explained that she is horrified by the media coverage in the past days, describing it as “destruction” and “killing” of Parashqevi’s reputation. India expressed her belief that the whole scandal and gossip could have been avoided if the situation had remained private.
India Gjata: “My comment is that all this fuss and gossip would have been completely avoided if this situation had not been made public. That’s it.”

India Gjata: “I think a person has been destroyed, a person has been killed against their will. She has been excessively exploited by the media. Everyone has used this case to appear as good men and women. I heard that they knew about the situation in the journalistic circles. I am not blaming Rezarta and they didn’t take any action to help her privately.”

India Gjata: “They slander her as a Albanian and as a woman, meanwhile she has been completely out of the public eye for 30 years, and it would have been much better for her to stay that way—as a true diva—rather than have her image slandered and abused like this. I am truly horrified by what has happened to Parashqevi Simaku from the media, and I hope everyone reflects and understands their responsibility and mistakes in this case.”
