The American tech giant “Amazon” has announced plans to invest $11 billion in the state of Georgia to expand and enhance the artificial intelligence infrastructure of its “Amazon Web Services” (AWS) unit. Amazon stated that this “cloud” unit plans to invest $11 billion to expand its infrastructure in Georgia to support cloud computing technologies and artificial intelligence. The investment is expected to create at least 550 new high-skill jobs.
Amazon highlighted that the growing demand for advanced cloud infrastructure for digital data storage, driven by generative artificial intelligence, underscores the importance of AWS’s investments to support the future of AI in Georgia’s data centers.
“AWS data centers are highly flexible, efficiently powering both traditional workloads and AI or machine learning models,” said Amazon, adding that this modern AI infrastructure will strengthen the state’s position as an innovation hub.
Amazon’s investments and the jobs created have been highly regarded, as the company has invested $18.5 billion in the state since 2010.
Major tech companies are allocating resources to enhance their capabilities in AI infrastructure.
Last week, the tech giant Microsoft announced plans to invest $80 billion in AI technologies by 2025.
